We are seeing a number of updates on Twitter urging users to download a file called "tweetdeck-08302010-update.exe" from a URL beginning with http://alturl.com/.
These tweets are from hacked accounts and this file does not come from us. Do not download it.
Official updates are exclusively available at: http://www.tweetdeck.com/desktop/ To ensure your safety TweetDeck files should only be downloaded from this location. Links to all the main official downloads are shown in the right-hand sidebar of our support site http://support.tweetdeck.com. If in doubt, only download from here or http://www.tweetdeck.com itself.

The Android TweetDeck Beta has been updated to v0.9.5 and can be downloaded from: http://www.tweetdeck.com/go/android
The 0.9.5 beta contains the following changes and additions:
Full compatibility with all phones running 1.6 and above
Added option to remove Facebook, Buzz, or Foursquare accounts
Added option to delete tweets sent by you
Improved handling and refined UI for Facebook and Google Buzz attachments
Fixed bug preventing successful updates containing multiple photos

UPDATE 10:00am PST. Basic Auth is now DISABLED for good. Please read the article below for details of how this affects you.
UPDATE: Today is the day. Basic Auth will be disabled at 8am PST today, 31st August. You MUST update to a recent version of TweetDeck in order to keep using your Twitter account after this time
A while ago we alerted you to the fact that Twitter was ceasing support for "Basic Authentication" in their API.
The current situation is this:
So, in order to continue using your Twitter account with TweetDeck from 31st August, you must be running at least the following versions, which all use xAuth:
Twitter have a page on their Developer Portal about the basic auth switchoff, which contains more details

The User Streams Preview version of TweetDeck has been updated to v0.34.5.2
This release remains controlled by the User Streams whitelist and therefore only download this version if you have been confirmed as having access.
The application should prompt to update shortly.

TweetDeck for Desktop v0.34.3.2 is available now.
This version will not be automatically pushed to clients, but can be downloaded from http://www.tweetdeck.com/desktop or get the .air file direct from http://bit.ly/thedeck
The only changes in this release are as follows:
Please note, this update is NOT part of the User Streams Preview, so do not install this update if you wish to remain on the User Streams version.
We will be rolling these changes into the User Streams Preview version of TweetDeck shortly and will push a new build to all testers at that point.
